Brief update from Sunday’s match at Ashford

We had a bright sunny day at the impressive Julie Rose stadium in Ashford in Kent for our first match in this year’s new Youth Development League, though the wind had a keen edge to it. Our under 17 and under 20 athletes combined with athletes from Lewes and Haywards Heath to form a team called Team Sussex.

There were 7 teams in the match and for a long time Team Sussex were leading, but we were clawed back towards the end and I think we might have finished up third. I don’t have the full results as yet and I’m afraid that you’ll have to wait until later in the week for a detailed report from the match.

This coming week sees our younger under 13 and under 15 athletes in action on Saturday when they travel to Lewes for their first match of the season. Sarah Hennessy and Kim Sands are the managers of the team and let’s hope they are well supported by athletes and parents.
