Can summer be far away ?

Signs that the summer season can’t be too far away – especially with the warm sunshine we had on Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday was the last Sunday morning training session at East Court – the next few Sunday morning sessions will take place at Imberhorne School. And this coming Tuesday March 11th sees the last circuit session of the winter. From next week (i.e. Tuesday March 18th) there will be outdoor Tuesday training at Imberhorne for the older athletes (school years 9 and above) from 7.30.

Tuesday training for the younger athletes (i.e. those who start training at 7 o’clock) will start on Tuesday April 1st.

For our older members I have some sad news to give you. Doug Birch died last week – he was 81. Doug used to compete for Croydon before moving to Sussex. He competed for our senior mens team for a number of years and was still competing for us well into his 60s – in particular he loved throwing the hammer. He then competed for Haywards Heath well into his 70s. Our thoughts go to his wife Jean and his family.

What’s happening this week ?

TUESDAY MARCH 11th – last circuits session of the winter in Imberhorne gym from 7.30.

THURSDAY MARCH 13th – training for all at Imberhorne School from 7.

SATURDAY MARCH 15th – long and triple jump training for invited athletes at Imberhorne Upper School from 10 to 11.30.

SUNDAY MARCH 16th – Sunday morning training at Imberhorne School from 10.30 to about 11.45.
