A busy week
Quite a bit of activity over the last few days. The Independent Schools (which includes Notre Dame) held their regional cross-country races during the week – with the athletes aiming to gain qualification for the national races to be held in the next few weeks.
Naomi Insole was a little disappointed to only finish 4th in her race, but this was comfortably good enough to book her place in the national races. We think Izzy and Maddie Sims also took part but, as yet, I don’t have any results for them.
Then on Thursday evening we had 9 athletes going to the Tube at Broadbridge Heath to take part in Horsham’s indoor sprints and hurdles races. Not surprisingly lots of PBs (as many of the athletes had not run in the Tube before) and some good performances – especially for those moving to an older age-group – as the build-up to the 2016 summer season continues. So well done to under 13s Daniel Le Roy, Olivia Aston and Lucy Rogers, under15s Erin Harnett and Jemma Edgar, under 17s Emmie van Lieshout and James Hulme and the slightly older Matt Burroughs and Phil Rogers.
Over this weekend Abby Beswick is competing at Lee Valley – I noticed a 5.54 metres long jump from Saturday as well as another hurdles race.
What’s happening over the next week ?
Tuesday February 2 – circuits session at Imberhorne from 7.30. We hope to be back in the gym this week.
Thursday February 4 – training for all at Imberhorne. Juniors from 7 and seniors from 7.30.
Saturday February 6 – long and triple jump at Imberhorne from 10 to 11.30.
Sunday February 7 – training at East Court from 10.30 to 11.45.
