Getting ready for the new season

News from last week’s Annual General Meeting

Good news from last week’s AGM when we were able to fill a number of the gaps. Tara and Antonia Deeley’s mother Becky will be our new secretary, Susan Rogers the new treasurer and Izzy and Maddie Sims’ mother Belinda will be the new primary schools cross-country race organiser. (Susan Rogers was Susan Voyce before she got married and she used to compete for us a few years ago.)

Many many thanks to those officials who filled these various roles before their retirement at this year’s AGM – Mary Lord as secretary, Chris McCrory as treasurer and Jackie Stayton as schools cross-country organiser. They will all be involved in the hand-over to the new officials over the next few weeks.

Annual membership renewal time

A reminder that your membership needs to be renewed by 1 April. Fees for the new season are:

Senior athletes £43

Junior members £38 (if you’re still at school or in full-time education)

Family membership is also available.

These amounts include the payment to register you with the governing body for athletics in the UK. Please note that, under new rules set by the UK governing body, you will not be allowed to compete until you pay your annual subscription.

Summer on its way

We are now training outdoors at Imberhorne on both Tuesday and Thursday evenings – and will be doing so throughout the school Easter holidays.

On Sunday April 3 there will be an Open Meeting at K2 and, if the weather is kind, this would be a good way to start your season.

And we have our first matches towards the end of April:

Saturday April 16 at Eastbourne for adult athletes and those in school years 10 and above.

Saturday April 23 at Gillingham for those in school years 6 to 9.

Sunday May 1 at Southampton for those in school years 10 to 13.

Easter holiday training sessions

Under 13 athletes – those of you in school years 6 and 7 – are invited to come to a training session that we will be holding on the morning of Wednesday April 6 at Imberhorne. Details were given out last week about this session for which there is a charge of £5.
