A day in Southampton
We had only 3 athletes – Emmie van Lieshout, Daniella Taylor and Roisin Bell – able to make the journey to Southampton for Sunday’s under 17 and under 20 match. Once again the weather wasn’t a great help to the athletes with a strong wind blowing against the sprinters. I don’t have the full results for the match and will leave any further comment on the match until I get the results.
It was very disappointing that we had so few athletes able to make the journey. Let’s hope for a better turn-out for the next under 17/20 match on Sunday May 29 at Kingston. If our under 17/20 athletes aren’t prepared to come to these matches then we’ll have to seriously think about entering the league for 2017.
Under 13 match on Tuesday evening
This coming Tuesday evening 3 May the under 13s have their first Sussex league match of the season at K2. The meeting starts at 6.30 and athletes should arrive at K2 by no later than 6. All under 13s are expected to go to the match and there will be no training for our 7 o’clock athletes on that evening at Imberhorne.
Matches next weekend
Please note that there are no matches for any of our teams over this coming weekend (May 7 and 8). There may be extra training sessions at Imberhorne over the weekend.
County Championships on May 14 and 15
A reminder that the Sussex County Championships to be held at Brighton will soon be here. Entries need to be made by Tuesday 3 May at the latest.
Training on Tuesday 3 May
As I’ve already mentioned that there is no 7 o’clock training this Tuesday. There will be training for 7.30 athletes but there won’t be many coaches there. If you do go training then for many of you it will be a case of looking after yourselves.
We’ll be back to normal on Thursday evening.
What’s happening over the next week ?
Tuesday May 3 – match at K2 for all under 13s (school years 6 and 7). No Imberhorne training for 7 o’clock athletes.
Thursday May 5 – training for all at Imberhorne.
Saturday May 7 – Academy training at Imberhorne from 11 to 12.
