A quieter week
Just one club match this weekend with a match for our under 17s and under 20s at Lewes. Again a rather disappointing turn out with just 7 of our athletes competing. I don’t have too many results to hand although I know that Selina Nash won the under 20 javelin with 29.07 metres, despite a strong gusty wind blowing against the throwers.
However there were a number of athletes involved in schools matches during the week. In Birmingham on Monday Ethan Scott won 2 events in his age-group in the Independent Schools national championships – both the 1500 and then the 800. He wouldn’t be allowed to do both of these events on the same day in a club match but this competition was under schools rules. Maddie Sims also came home with a first place, again in the 800 metres – and sister Izzy was second in her 1500 metres.
There was also a schools match during the week at Horsham – the Reg Clark games – and a number of our athletes competed there.
And an Open Meeting at Crawley on Wednesday evening saw Ethan Scott with another pb in the 1500 metres – I think it must be 4 or 5 times this season that he’s set a pb in the 1500.
Friday evening match
We have a match for under 15 athletes (school years 8 and 9) this coming Friday evening at Horsham. But then a weekend without any club matches. I’ll have to stay in and watch the GB trials for the World Championships instead.
Sussex Championships for under 13s and for under 11s – your nearly too late
A last chance to enter these championships. Monday’s the last day to enter.
