Combined Events Championships – a great way to finish the season
We have done well at the Sussex Combined Events Championships over the last few years and this year was no exception. Silver medal for Jemma Edgar in the under 17 girls event and bronze medals for Maddie Sims in the under 13 girls, Erin Harnett in the under 15 girls and Cameron Wells in the under 15 boys. Near misses and fourth places for under 15 Michael Sullivan and under 13 Ellis Beynon with under 15 Hannah Plumb and under 13s Alannah McAllister and Ella Kessell all keeping going despite the increasingly unpleasant weather on Sunday afternoon.
We also had a large number of pbs throughout the 2 days in the individual events within the combined events, especially in the high and long jumps. So very well done to all 9 of our athletes who took part and showed the blue and yellow vest to the rest of the athletes there. Perhaps some of you who didn’t compete will re-consider for next year – the combined events championships are a great thing to be part of and a great way to end the season.
End of season break now in operation
A reminder that we are now having a break from training before we start the autumn and winter training. We will re-start Sunday morning training at East Court on October 1 and Thursday evening training outdoors at Imberhorne on October 5.
Help needed with a couple of events we are organising
There are a couple of forthcoming events that we need help with. On Sunday September 24 there is the East Grinstead 10k race, starting at Imberhorne Upper School. And then a couple of weeks later on Sunday October 8 on the East Court playing fields we are organising the schools cross-country races for primary schools and for year 7 and 8 secondary schools.
A number of you have previously responded to our request for help. If you haven’t previously offered to help then please contact Lester Medcalf in the first place.
What’s happening this week ?
No athletics at all.
