Depleted teams for last 2 matches of the season
A bit disappointing that we were missing a number of athletes for the last couple of matches – with late summer holidays, Little Mix and the start of winter sports having to accept most of the blame. In particular we had just 4 girls for Friday evening’s under 15 match at Brighton and also only 4 girls for Sunday’s under 13 match at K2.
So very well done to those athletes who competed in either match. Highlights on Sunday came from Ethan Scott winning the 1000 metres in a record time for the league and also a new under 13 club record, while Leo Low-Foon won the long jump with a best of 4.84 metres – which was the same distance as he jumped in winning the Sussex under 13 championships in July. And the lad who came second on Sunday also jumped the same distance – 4.71 metres – as he had jumped in the under 13 championships where he also came second.
On Friday evening our 4 x 300 metres relay team of Michael Sullivan, Cameron Wells, George Collingwood and Luke Davison set a new under 15 boys club record with a time of 2 minutes and 56.1 seconds.
Combined Events Championships on September 9 and 10 – last track and field event of our summer
The Sussex and Surrey combined events championships take place over this coming weekend at Sutton in Surrey. We have 9 athletes entered and we wish them well. I’m afraid it’s now too late for anyone else to enter.
