It’s taken me most of the week to catch up with the results from the Open Meetings that took place last Monday at K2, Tonbridge and Peterborough. The K2 Meeting saw a further pb from Chloe Hollamby when she went under 26 seconds for the first time in the 200 metres – 25.91 seconds – plus a good solid time in the 300 metres of 41.21 seconds. And Ryan Spivey continues to do what he has been doing all season with yet more pbs. He went over 50 metres in the javelin for the first time in the last league match of the season a couple of weeks ago and he added a few more centimetres as the javelin landed at 51.61 metres – not just a pb, but a new club record. And, perhaps rather less spectacularly, he added 2 centimetres to his previous pole vault best with a clearance of 3.15 metres. Also at K2 Kieran Johnstone ran his fastest 100 metres with a time of 12.01 seconds and under 15 Jamie Osborne was also busy with pbs on the track – 26.14 seconds in the 200 metres and 41.79 in the 300 metres.
At Tonbridge Mia Russell had a busy morning with 3 events in the first couple of hours with a new pb of 5.92 metres in the shot – though she was disappointed with her long jump. Abby Beswick managed four events in preparation for the Sussex Multi-events championships – and a series of solid performances though no pbs.
Wayne Gadd was busy at the Peterborough City Games and broke his own club records for over 40s in 2 events – 16.76 seconds in the 110 metres hurdles and a very impressive 5.85 metres in the long jump. He also putt the shot 9.60 metres.
