The first week’s training after the Christmas and New Year break all started well and let’s hope it’s a good sign for the forthcoming summer season. Lois Drummie went to Horsham on Thursday evening and did three under 50 metres hurdles. She’s an under 17 now and while the hurdle heights are the same as for under 15s the space between the hurdles is longer. 2 lots of 8.5 seconds and one 8.6 seconds was a good way to start her preparation for the summer.
During this coming week some of our primary school athletes will be taking part in the Mid Sussex Schools cross-country races. The races are to be held on Wednesday January 15th. They were originally going to be held at Borde Hill Gardens near Haywards Heath, but they have now been switched to Oakmeeds Community College in Burgess Hill. Because of the very wet weather Borde Hill haven’t been able to get the course ready. We wish our athletes well. Those who do well in these races will be selected to represent Mid Sussex in the Sussex County championships later in the winter.
