It’s taken me most of the week to catch up with all the matches that we were involved with during July – ranging from the gales that Abby Beswick had to run into at the English Schools Championships in Gateshead to the heavy rain that our under 15 team had at Horsham last weekend to be followed by the heavy rain last Sunday in Brighton for our under 17 and under 20 athletes.
And of course this weekend the weather has been just right – warm and sunny – for athletes to compete. But no matches.
With the school holidays starting last week numbers at training have taken their customary fall at this time of year. Training will continue on both Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Imberhorne until the middle of September.
This coming Sunday August 9 there is an Open Meeting at Horsham, and this is normally an excellent meeting. The following weekend – on Saturday August 15 – the senior athletes will have a coach-trip to Bournemouth for the last senior match of the season.
And looking to the Sussex and Surrey Multi-Events competition in the middle of September we have begun talking to athletes who we think should be taking part. We will provide coaching sessions for those looking to compete in the Multi-Events – especially for the events the athletes are less used to.
What’s happening over this coming week ?
Tuesday August 4 – training for all at Imberhorne from 7pm.
Thursday August 6 – training for all at Imberhorne from 7pm.
Saturday August 8 – academy training at Imberhorne from 10.30.
Sunday August 9 – Open Meeting at Horsham. Well worth going along.
