Horsham Open on Sunday
A sunny but breezy day for the Horsham Open and we had 6 or 7 athletes taking part in a variety of events. I don’t have the full results as yet but I did notice that we did well in the under 13 high jump. Hannah Plumb won the girls event with 1.45 metres (and later threw a javelin pb of 22.80 metres) while we had the first two in the boys high jump – Christian Given first with 1.35 and Cameron Wells second with 1.30 metres.
Olivia Aston continued her good season in the 100 metres (14.2 seconds) and 200 metres (29.6 seconds) and Ethan Scott was again under 5 minutes in the 1500 metres with 4 minutes 58.5 seconds. Ethan’s brother Josh, Cameron’s sister Sophie and Christian’s sister Verity also took part in the under 11 600 metres.
Tuesday August 9 is the last Tuesday evening at Sackville before we return to Imberhorne for Tuesday evening training
A reminder that we train all through the school summer holidays. However this week sees the last Tuesday session at Sackville. Starting on the following Tuesday August 16 we will train at Imberhorne Upper School on Tuesday evenings as well as on Thursday evenings. For the time being Tuesday training will start at 7pm for all age-groups while Thursday evenings will be 7 to 8 for young athletes and 7.30 to 8.45 for older athletes.
Sussex (and Surrey) Combined Events Championships on September 10 and 11. Extra training available
Not too far away we will have the Sussex and Surrey Combined Events championships in September. We have done well at these championships over the last few years and we’d like that to continue.
For those athletes who are interested in competing we will arrange extra coaching sessions in those events that athletes don’t normally do. If you are at all interested in taking part in the combined events please talk to Lester Medcalf – he has entry forms as well.
