Great news from Australia in the World Masters Championships held in Perth. Phil Spivey will bring home not one, but two gold medals from these World Championships. In the male 55 category he firstly won the 11.34k weight throw with a throw of 20.68 metres and then followed this the next day with a throw of 60.08 metres to win the 6k hammer throw.
So very well done to Phil and just reward for the hard work he has put in, in particular over the last year or so. We look forward to seeing his medals when he returns home. (As many of you will know Phil was born in Australia and represented his home country in the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh when he came third in the hammer throw. However I don’t think he ever competed in the Olympic Games.)
