Christmas is coming
Christmas may be nearly here but we still have a week’s training before we can take a break for Christmas. You may have heard the story of Daley Thompson, who was the world’s best decathlete in the 1980s with 2 Olympic gold medals, and who used to train twice on Christmas Day because he thought that his rivals probably only trained once. Well I guess if any of you are lining yourself up for the 2020 Olympics then you may need to be training next Sunday. But for most of you it’s perfectly OK to take a break for a few days. (Incidentally Daley Thompson was at the Sussex and Surrey Combined Events Championships earlier this year in September – he had a son competing.)
Here’s a reminder of the training sessions over the next 2 or 3 weeks.
Tuesday December 20 will be the last circuits session of 2016. This session will take place in the Imberhorne Upper School gym.
Thursday December 22 will be the last Thursday evening session of 2016 on the track at Imberhorne. Please wear something festive for this session.
Thursday January 29 we will hold a training session at East Court from 10.30 to 11.45. This will be suitable for all athletes and may be the only opportunity you have to take some organised exercise over the Christmas period.
Tuesday January 3 circuits sessions will re-start at Imberhorne gym.
Thursday January 5 will see Thursday evening training re-start.
Sunday January 8 will see Sunday mornings at East Court re-start. 10.30 to 11.45.
County Cross-country championships on January 7
A reminder that the Sussex championships take place on January 7 at Bexhill and you can now book your place. Go to the Sussex AAA website for details or talk to Karen Wells. The Surrey Championships take place on the same day in Croydon.
