It may be half-term this week for West Sussex schools but we are training as normal
Sussex Indoor Championships
We had a rather smaller number of athletes competing at this year’s indoor championships then we’ve had in previous years – and our hoped for medal haul was seriously affected when Abby Beswick had to withdraw at the last moment with a hamstring injury. We managed just one medal with Dorian Szatmari coming third in the under 17 male long jump with a best jump of 5.20 metres.
Otherwise Emmie van Lieshout just missed out on a medal when she came fourth in the under 17 ladies 60 metres. Ellis Beynon did well to make the final of the under 13 boys 60 metres where he finished fifth, while Ellen Green reached the semi-final of the under 15 girls 60 metres with Olivia Aston not quite able to make the semi-final.
Track and field officials’ course on March 12th
A reminder that there will be a course in Haywards Heath on March 12th aimed at those of you who would like to help to judge track and field events. The course will give an introduction to what you will need to do and will form a good basis for future judging. It is important that we have some of our parents going on this course as we have to provide officials for all of our track and field league matches. No judges means no athletics.
If you are interested in attending this course then please contact Lester Medcalf – (01342) 315589 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Annual General Meeting
Further signs that the summer season is getting closer with our AGM notice being sent out to our members in the next couple of days. The meeting will take place on Wednesday March 22nd at Imberhorne Upper School. If you haven’t received a notice by the end of the week then please contact our Secretary Becky Barrow.
We will also be sending out a full summer fixture list fairly soon. Please make a note of the matches for your particular age-group. We do expect all our members to compete regularly and may cancel your membership if you don’t compete regularly.
And in perhaps 2 or 3 weeks we’ll be telling you about how to renew your membership and pay your annual subscription fee.
