Under 13 match at K2
Our under 13 athletes had their first Sussex league match during the week at K2 in Crawley with new team managers Jeanie Scott and Denise Lancaster in charge (with much help on the day from Suzie Spraggett). With 20 athletes taking part we were able to fill most – but not all – of the events and we ended up third. Some way behind the 2 strong teams from Crawley and Horsham – but just ahead of Worthing and Haywards Heath while Chichester only had 2 or 3 athletes making the journey.
Ethan Scott was our only first place – in the 1000 metres – but we had a couple of excellent javelin results. Maddie Gettins throwing over 21 metres in the girls event and Leo Low-Foon just over 20 metres in the boys event. But all the athletes did well, especially those who agreed to do events that they didn’t really fancy.
The team’s next match is a few weeks away on Thursday June 15 at Horsham – however before then there is a match for under 13 and under 15 athletes on Saturday May 20 in Hastings.
County Championships this coming weekend at K2 for Sussex and Kingston for Surrey
We have a good number of athletes entered for the Sussex Championships at K2 over this coming weekend – May 13 and 14 – and one or two entered in the Surrey Champs. We wish them well and hope for a few medals here and there.
Abby ruptured her Achilles tendon a couple of weeks ago and is due to have an operation on it later this week. This does of course mean her athletics is over for this summer and we wish her well for a full and steady recovery.
Have you paid your annual membership fee ?
Now we are into May you really should have paid your annual subs by now. If you haven’t yet paid we will soon be sending out reminder notices. It would be very helpful if you paid your subs in the next week.
