Sussex Schools Championships for years 8 and above
We had a fewer than normal number of athletes taking part in the Sussex Schools Champs on Saturday at K2 but those that did compete produced a number of excellent performances with a number of pbs.
Hannah Plumb in the under 15 girls high jump came back with a silver medal and a new pb of 1.54 metres. Emmie van Lieshout (under 17 girls 100 metres), Erin Harnett (under 15 girls 200 metres) and Ethan Carrick (under 17 boys 100 metres) all got through to their finals – and all 3 just missed out on a medal by coming fourth. All the sprinters had to contend with a blustery wind which mostly blew into them. Erin was also part of the winning Mid Sussex 4 x 100 metres relay team.
Antonia Deeley set a new pb in coming 5th in the under 15 girls 1500 metres with 5 minutes 7.44 seconds and Michael Sullivan in a big field in the under 15 boys 800 metres also came home with pb of 2 minutes 12.96 seconds. Jemma Edgar was close to her best with 4.51 metres in the under 17 girls long jump where she came 6th.
