We’re back training for the summer of 2019
A good turn out for the first evening training session of the autumn last Thursday, with a good number of new under 13 athletes – including many who were in our academy over the summer and have now moved into school year 6.
Sunday morning numbers at a sunny warm East Court were a little disappointing and it would be great to see a few more of you enjoying the hills at East Court. A reminder that there is no training this coming Sunday October 14 because of the schools races.
Schools cross-country races on Sunday October 14
This Sunday’s races will be the 41st time we have organised the primary school cross-country championships – the 40th time they’ve been held on the East Court playing fields. The first time they were held in 1978 the races took place along what was then the new Beeching Way – so new that the road hadn’t yet been opened to traffic.
We can never have too many helpers and it’s not too late to volunteer yourself. If you can come and help in the morning then we’ll start at about 9.30, and if you can help in the afternoon then please arrive by 12.30. You should come to the lower field by the pavilion. We of course have no idea what the weather will be like – but if you’re coming to help then wear clothes appropriate to the weather.
What’s happening in the next week ?
Thursday October 11 – training at Imberhorne Upper School from 7 to 8
Sunday October 14 – cross-country races for primary schools and for years 7 and 8 at East Court. Races start at 1.30 – getting the course ready starts at 9.30 !!
