An update on autumn/winter training
Last week I told you when we were going to re-start training after our September break. I said that we were investigating the possibility of training indoors on Tuesdays as well as outdoors on Thursday evenings. I can now update that for you.
We will re-start on THURSDAY OCTOBER 10 – under the floodlights at Imberhorne UPPER School of course. From 7pm to 8pm.
The middle distance group will also meet at Imberhorne at 7pm and most weeks they will then go out on the surrounding roads.
We will re-start indoor Tuesday training sessions on TUESDAY OCTOBER 15 in the gym at the Imberhorne LOWER school in Windmill Lane. From 7 to 8.
Both of these sessions are open to all athletes – from under 13s (school years 6 and 7) upwards. There is a charge of £2 for each of these sessions, although if you have a training season ticket there is of course no charge.
Sunday morning sessions at East Court will start on SUNDAY OCTOBER 20. They will start at 10.30 and finish at about 11.45.
And we have some dates for matches next summer !!
With the 2019 summer season only just finishing we already have dates for some of our matches next summer. The provisional dates for the senior matches (which are for adults and those in school years 10 and above) are as follows:
Saturday April 18
Sunday May 17
Sunday June 7
Sunday July 12
Saturday August 15
Not surprisingly venues are still to be arranged.
It is always possible that some of the dates could change, but you will notice that there are due to be 3 Sunday matches next year – normally there is just one Sunday match.
World Athletics Championships
A reminder that the World Athletics Championships started on Friday September 27 but have another week to go. Not sure if I should confess to you that, up to now, I have sat in front of my TV for every minute of the Championships.
Schools cross-country races
We are now only a couple of weeks away from this year’s schools cross-country championships at East Court – on SUNDAY OCTOBER 13. We can do with help in the morning from 9am to get the course ready and then from about 12.30 for the races themselves.
It is always a great day – come along and be part of it all. If you can help then contact Belinda Sims or Lester Medcalf.
What’s happening this week ?
Tuesday 1 October – committee meeting at Imberhorne Upper School from 7pm. In the room behind our booking-in room.
